Although somewhat isolated from the crowds of big cities, living on Keweenaw Bay is far from primitive. The towns of Baraga and L'Anse have a solid and growing economic status, providing an employment rate that is actually higher than many other Michigan Counties. With Michigan Tech University located close by, the area also has a surprisingly diverse offering of cultural activities.

Our local culture, defined by Ojibwa heritage, is steeped in time honored tradition and celebrated with pride. Many Ojibwa traditions are observed annually and open to the public.
